In the series Under a Cloud, another reality manifests itself after the traumatic event of the September 11 attacks. At a time of war and fears, America is no longer an invulnerable sanctuary. Beyond the psychological impact, the attacks had a profound impact on the life of the American people – privacy, free movement and communication.
As I was about to apply for my U.S. citizenship, this project became the starting point to define my perception of America and separate facts from fiction. Revealing feelings of vulnerability and suspicion, the photographs were made in New York and other parts of the United States.
Dans la série Under a Cloud (Sous un Nuage), une autre réalité se manifeste suite à l’événement traumatisant des attaques du 11 Septembre. A un moment de guerre et de psychose, l’Amérique n’est plus un sanctuaire invulnérable. Au-delà du choc psychologique, les attentats ont eu des conséquences profondes sur la population américaine – protection des renseignements personnels, la libre circulation et la communication.
Au moment ou je présentais une demande de citoyenneté américaine, ce projet est devenu le point de départ afin de définir ma perception des États-Unis et de séparer les faits de la fiction. Révèlant le sentiment de vulnérabilité et de suspicion, les photographies ont été réalisées à New York et lors de déplacements dans d’autres états du pays.
